It is hereby advised for public information that at the Council Meeting held on Thursday 28 November 2024 the Council of the Shire of Murray resolved to adopt the following requirements in accordance with section 24G of the Bush Fires Act 1954 (Act):

The Shire of Murray hereby gives notice of a proposal to grant a lease to occupy a 6038m2 portion of vacant land located at Lot 38 Dollyup Street, Stake Hill (Food Innovation Precinct Western Australia) for a period of 5 years with further terms of 5-years plus 10-years, for the development, construction and operation of a 100% recyclable carton packaging facility.

The Shire of Murray hereby gives notice that Western Power will be carrying out essential work in West Coolup and surrounding areas. A number of planned outages will be required from November 2024 through to March 2025 to enable Western Power crews to complete these upgrades safely.

Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Audit and Risk Committee will be held in the Council Chambers, 1915 Pinjarra Road, Pinjarra at 5:00pm on Thursday 28 November 2024.

The Shire of Murray administration office will be closed during the Christmas and New Year period on the following dates.

Notice is hereby given that the Shire of Murray has engaged contractors to complete 2km of new asphalt shared path extending from the Tate Gully on the South West Highway to Alcoa Road north of Pinjarra.

Notice is hereby given that the Shire of Murray is commencing its yearly swimming pool/spa inspection programme.

Pursuant to the powers contained in Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954 (the Act), owners and/or occupiers of land within the Shire of Murray (Shire) are required to carry out fire prevention work on their land that must comply with the requirements as stated in this Bushfire Compliance Notice (Notice). Fire prevention work must be completed by 1 December 2024 and must be maintained through to 15 May 2025.

The Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel will meet at 1pm on Wednesday 2 October 2024 to consider a proposed amendment to a Child Day Care Centre at Lot 99 (25) James Street, Pinjarra

Notice is hereby given that the Shire of Murray Administration Office will be closing early at 4:00pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Notice is hereby given that in accordance with s.38 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, the Shire of Murray has appointed the following persons as Bush Fire Control Officers for the district of the Shire of Murray.

Installation on a new moving floor and compactor will necessitate the possible closure of the tipping area, disruptions, and potential delays to the usual drop-off process.

In accordance with section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995, notice is hereby given to the ratepayers of the intention to levy the following differential rates for the 2024/2025 financial year as summarised below:

From 1 July 2024 Council’s Building Services will no longer be acting as a collection agency for the Construction Training Fund (CTF).

The Shire of Murray here by gives notice that we no longer provide ranger services to the Shire of Waroona.

In accordance with the provisions of section 17(7) of the Bush Fires Act 1954, as delegated by the council of the Shire of Murray jointly to the Shire President and the Chief Bush Fire Control Officer, the "Prohibited Burning Time" for the Shire of Murray has been shortened and will conclude at 23:59hrs on Friday 3 May 2024.  

Section 17(7) and (78) of the Bush Fires 1954, enables a Local government to vary the Prohibited Burning Period under the Act due to seasonal conditions by periods not exceeding 14 days. The "Prohibited Burning Time" for the Shire of Murray has been extended for a period of fourteen (14) days from 00.01 hours on Monday 29 April 2024 through until 23.59 hours on Sunday 12 May 2024. This means that the Restricted Burning Times within the district will commence from 00.01 hours on Monday 13 May 2024.

Pursuant to section 17(7) of the Bush Fires Act 1954, notice is hereby given that the commencement of the Prohibited Burning Time in the Shire of Murray has been brought forward by 21 days to 12:01am Friday 10 November 2023.

Upgrades to Coolup South Road will begin this month. The work will upgrade 2.8km of road staged over the next 2-3 financial years and will start from the Coolup townsite and finish just north of the Gibbings Road intersection.

The Shire of Murray is holding an election by postal vote on Saturday, 21 October 2023 to fill vacancies in the offices of President and Councillors.
