Items accepted
The following is accepted for free with a tip pass:
- Household recyclables
- Engine oil (up to 20 litres)
- Scrap metal
- Paper and cardboard
- Car batteries
- Gas bottles
- Paint tins
- e-waste.
Agricultural and veterinary chemical users can recycle their empty agvet chemical containers at the Corio Road drumMUSTER collection site.
Hazardous waste, including asbestos, is not accepted by the transfer stations. See our hazardous waste page for facilities that are able to accept this.
Tip passes
Residents who own or rent a residential property that receives a weekly waste service are eligible for free access to either waste transfer station.
Free access is restricted to household quantities and is administered by a residential tip pass, sent out annually with rate notices. Rural residents who don't receive a weekly waste service can purchase a rural waste pass for access to either waste transfer station. Access is restricted to household quantities.
To apply for a new or replacement pass, fill out the relevant pass form and the pass will be posted to you.
Note: Proof of residential address is required when applying. This is usually a drivers licence or utility bill no older than three months.
Yearly passes cost $190 and are valid from September through to the following September. Half yearly passes cost $95 and start from 1 March.
Conditions of tip passes
- Pass must be presented to the gate attendant upon entry – no pass, no free access.
- Pass is non-transferable as it contains property specific information.
- Pass entitles you to dispose of up to 1.5 cubic metres per visit of general waste or 3.0 cubic metres of green waste from your own property.
- Loads of general waste larger than 1.5 cubic metres will be charged at the standard gate fee, with loads in excess of three cubic metres not accepted.
- Maximum of four tyres (passenger/motorcycle/4WD) per entry.
- Loads to be segregated and unloaded as directed by the gate attendant
- Children and animals must remain in your vehicle at all times.
- Pass will not be accepted for the disposal of any type of waste from small or commercial business operators – standard gate fees apply.

Fees
Non-residents can pay to dispose of their residential waste only (no greater than 3 cubic metres) at either waste transfer station.
