Why we advocate

The Shire of Murray exists to meet the needs of current and future generations through an integration of environmental protection, social enhancement and economic prosperity.

One of the ways we fulfill this purpose by being a voice for the local community on key issues.

We regularly advocate to the Western Australian and Australian governments for funding for important programs and projects that will benefit the Murray community and broader region.

With the Peel Region’s rapidly growing population, diversifying economy and increasingly popular tourism scene, Murray has the opportunity to deliver transformational outcomes that will deliver significant value and address complex socioeconomic challenges.

How we advocate

Our advocacy efforts include:

  • Making representations to State and Australian Government Ministers
  • Meeting with local Members of Parliament
  • Engaging with candidates participating in State and/or federal elections
  • Engage with local and state media
  • Partnering with relevant organisations and agencies
  • Participating in industry advocacy efforts
  • Making submissions to grants and funding opportunities.
