The installation of the new moving floor and compactor at Corio Road Transfer Station is now complete.
Shire of Murray CEO Dean Unsworth said this project falls within the Shire’s priority focus area of ‘Planet’ and supports the community’s aspiration where Murray’s natural environment is cared for and appreciated.
“Waste management is an important service for a local government and with works now complete, dropping off waste is now easier with the installation of the moving floor and compactor at the Corio Road Transfer Station,” said Mr Unsworth.
“The moving floor allows for waste to be easily transitioned from the back of a ute or trailer onto a moving floor with the removal of the existing gates, where it is then compacted into skip bins. It has increased convenience, cost-efficiency and safety at the station. As well as reducing transport costs for the Shire as compacted waste can be transported more efficiently,” added Mr Unsworth.
This project was a major priority for the Shire of Murray with $1.5 million dollars investment from Council. The project tender was awarded to Orez Solutions Pty Ltd. in January 2024.
