In accordance with the provisions of section 17(7) of the Bush Fires Act 1954, as delegated by the council of the Shire of Murray jointly to the Shire President and the Chief Bush Fire Control Officer, the "Prohibited Burning Time" for the Shire of Murray has been shortened and will conclude at 23:59hrs on Friday 3 May 2024.
Section 17(7) and (78) of the Bush Fires 1954, enables a Local government to vary the Prohibited Burning Period under the Act due to seasonal conditions by periods not exceeding 14 days. The "Prohibited Burning Time" for the Shire of Murray has been extended for a period of fourteen (14) days from 00.01 hours on Monday 29 April 2024 through until 23.59 hours on Sunday 12 May 2024. This means that the Restricted Burning Times within the district will commence from 00.01 hours on Monday 13 May 2024.
Pursuant to section 17(7) of the Bush Fires Act 1954, notice is hereby given that the commencement of the Prohibited Burning Time in the Shire of Murray has been brought forward by 21 days to 12:01am Friday 10 November 2023.
Upgrades to Coolup South Road will begin this month. The work will upgrade 2.8km of road staged over the next 2-3 financial years and will start from the Coolup townsite and finish just north of the Gibbings Road intersection.
